HISTORY
OF
THE CHASTAIN FAMILY
Long before I met my husband, his family
was into genealogy. It was some time before I really
took an interest in it.
After we were married and as I grew closer with the
family I discovered my husband's parents were from the same
county as my Grandparents. As I developed a desire
to study my family tree I got very curious upon finding
that my Mother-in-law had the same maiden name as my
2nd Great-Grandmother.
My Uncle Floyd pressed me to do a search giving me
the infomation of some relatives I did not know existed,
yet they lived a short distance from where we spend
time in the mountains at the cabin.
Upon my journey I opened a lot of doors with the
greatest of ease, to my amazement most of my
homework had been done and after visiting with
distant cousins they were more than happy to
print out what information they had and mail it to
me. While I was viewing the information my husband
noticed that the same names on my family tree
were on his.
After much searching and doing a
search link of my maiden name to my husband, the results
were mind blowing, the tree showed we are 5th cousins
onced removed, what ever that means.(small world here)
This really got my mind reeling and I became even more
curious to get involved in my husband's family reunions
as they are my family also.
I feel as much a part of the family as anyone can.
It gives me much pleasure and joy to know I have so many
relatives even though we may be distant related.
